1003681821. I recently did something very stupid and am trying to fix it. I accidentally plugged a molex connector in backwards with the computer running and smoked my friends hard drive. I know…never, never etc…I’m still kicking myself. A 400GB drive and it was packed FULL of data that he needs back. I think it was the 5V TVS diode that blew, but not sure. Do you think I did more damage than just the PCB? The drive spins up and is recognized by name when connected to a IDE>USB adapter, but doesn’t show up in “My Computer”. If someone has a matching PCB or entire drive, I’ll buy it and give it a try unless you think it’s a lost cause. Any help from the experts here would be GREATLY appreciated, as my friend is not very happy with me right now.

Seagate 100406937 REV B Barracuda 7200.9 SATA PCB Circuit Board

PCB 100406937 REV B1. Firstly I would like to get the data off this drive and I just need to know by swapping the PCB board with an exect equivilent will actually work (ideally without transferring/dismounting/soldering/ any chips etc).
The drive fails to power up/spin with the existing board and when looking there are a couple of raised spots under where one of the chips is mounted. I did have a equivilent IDE board which fits this and the drive powers on/spins fine but obviously does not get recognise by an OS.
So if replcing the board does work on these drive I am looking for a replacement PCB matching the following details.
Seagate Barracuda 7100.1 320GB SATA (ST3320820AS)
P/N: 9BJ13G-566
Firmware: 3.AFE
Date Code: 07363
Site Code: TK
Product of Thailand
PCB Barcode: 100436209 C 77343XS1
Number printed on PCB board: 100406937 REV B
Any additional information about recovering the data would be greatly appreciated. If I need to buy special tools or a machine to dismount and remount chips could you inform me where I can get this sort of equipment from?

2. Do you have PCB board with this information:
Model number: ST3200820AS
P/N: 9BJ13F-300
Firmware: 3.AAC
Site Code: WU
Capacity: 200GB
Main Chip #: 100404226

Seagate 100355589 Barracuda 7200 9 PCB Circuit Board

PCB 1003555891. Today I plugged in my Seagate Barracuda 160GB HD, to copy some files over. However, the HD board failed, and a resistor blew. If you see the photo, you will see two large bright solder pads where the resistor once was (and where i tried to place one)…

Do you have a spare SATA drive controller for a seagate, or knows of a way to get the data off the HD, or has a really fast internet connection to download steam content, i would like to hear from you.

the model of this drive
the model is a ST3160812AS
revision firmware
the board version is (on the underside) 100355589 REVC
The white label on top (in the photo) is 100372441 [gap] K [gap] 362654ZL

2. A client of mine had two Seagate Barracuda 500GB 7200.10 drives fail one 3 weeks ago and the other just yesterday. The on-board electronics were faulty and I was able to retrieve the data by swaping out circuit boards from one of my personal drives.

Does anyone know if I can get a replacement circuit boards for both drives. Seagates warranty is up and Seagate doesn’t sell parts!

Q1:  We had a lightning storm that took out 2 network switches in our house.  My wife’s 2007 iMac was still working that evening.  The next day, it could not find it’s hard drive.  The Apple store replaced the drive and said it was a mechanical failure.  The drive is not recognized and clicks repeatedly in regular 2 or 3 second intervals.  A Seagate recovery service has commented that the clicking noise is a bad sign.  Still, because of the lightning storm, I have to wonder if replacing the board would work.  The details follow and would very much appreciate any help you might be able to offer.
